"When misguided public opinion honors what is despicable and despises what is honorable, punishes virtue and rewards vice, encourages what is harmful and discourages what is useful, applauds falsehood and smothers truth under indifference or insult, a nation turns its back on progress and can be restored only by the terrible lessons of catastrophe." … Frederic Bastiat

Evil talks about tolerance only when it’s weak. When it gains the upper hand, its vanity always requires the destruction of the good and the innocent, because the example of good and innocent lives is an ongoing witness against it. So it always has been. So it always will be. And America has no special immunity to becoming an enemy of its own founding beliefs about human freedom, human dignity, the limited power of the state, and the sovereignty of God. – Archbishop Chaput

Under the Category of "What the Hell is Going on Here?"

This has gotten beyond curious and has now become outright worrisome. What in the hell do the feds need with this much ammunition?

I have long suspected that if they cannot do an outright grab of law-abiding Americans' guns, they would shift tactics and go after the ammunition. Any of you who shoot regularly must have surely noticed the run up in price of a box of ammunition over the last several weeks.

Between drone strikes on American citizens and this, you have to be increasingly concerned that something is going on that should alarm any citizens who cherish liberty.

DHS Purchases 21.6 Million More Rounds of Ammunition

The Department of Homeland Security is set to purchase a further 21.6 million rounds of ammunition to add to the 1.6 billion bullets it has already obtained over the course of the last 10 months alone, figures which have stoked concerns that the federal agency is preparing for civil unrest.

  2. Dan,

In the story it told of ATK fullfilling the 450MM bullets to DHS over the next 4 years. I can personally confirm that a recent local machine tool shop on the East Coast was looking at adding additional equipment to include a press, bowl and feed system, controls and tooling to produce .223 bullets. The copper cups would be supplied by ATK.. Hmmm? Isnt that just peachy. That is correct 158 Million rounds of .223 over the next 1.5 years to who....DHS. I believes they are indeed looking at controling our movements. The conspiracy theorist are not conspiracy theorist, but are becoming more and more conspiracy "PROPHETS". Crash the market, bail out the banks, freely give money to banks yet bankrupt the American middle and lower classes, digitize all money so you can both control the flows and monitor it, beat down any and all protective and alternative currencies by the big 5 cronie banks. Then take away all our rights including limit free speech, take away our rights to defend ourselves, tax the heck out of us. Where do the American people finally draw the line and begin to rebel? Yesterday while Obammy and OMalley were in Annapolis discussing their continued assault on our rights while over 5,000 Americans jammed the State House in Annapolis to protest these Dictators. Not much of anything in the press about the crowds. Aren't they sweet. Thanks again for your patriotism Dan.

  3. Quite simply it's a war on ammunition. Far easier to restrict ammo and inflate its price rather than risk states succeeding over gun control.

    1. Don't be naive. These are some of the (late) first shots of the coming (global) war. We can still ignore them (like distant rumbling) but the storm is definitely on its way.

  4. Stout hearts, brothers.

Out here on the left coast, most of the panic buying has subsided but still some high prices. I bought a Spike's OLL for $360 (list on their site is $125)But, I'm still 10 mos ahead of the mandated Cali long gun registration on Jan 1 '14. Stripped uppers have 3-6 month lead times. And, CMP will ship a M1 Garand directly to your doorstep for ~$1500. Ain't America great!?

I havent had much success stocking up on ammunition on line. Local shops sold out. That is okay. This is my motivation for learning to re-load.

My local range has seen an increase in membership from ~1500 to 5000 over the past 4 years. And, this is in the very heart of liberal coastal cali.

My advice is stay in touch with like minded folks. Keep an eye on info like this and draw your own conclusions as you choose.

Remember always to trust in the Lord.

  5. The HUUUGE amount of ammunition for the DHS.
    The installed internet kill switches.
The allowance to arrest citizens without a judge.
The installation of cameras everyhwere within the western countries, but the opening of the borders to mass immigration.
INDECT (don't know if the US also has such a program: the use of flying drones in the EUSSR in cities).
Taking the weapons away from the honest citizens, while pardoning the criminals.
    And much, much more.

While the liberal media, alsways very concerned about freedom and civil rights remain completely silent.

And now let's switch to the financial topic:
    Has any problem been solved?
Do you recognize at least any intentions to solve the root of the problems?
Or do you recognize, that the Jon Corzines and Tim Geithners (sharing insider knowledge as NY fed-president) are prosceuted?

So on one hand we see many preparations for a regime planning repression against the citizens and on the other hand there is not the slightest will, to solve problems.

This is a classical delaying action, while the regime is preparing for the collapse of the financial markets.

And haven't they always demanded a global crisis to be able to establish the final world government?
    Problem - Reaction - Solution.

They must prepare NOW for the potential collapse. Because they must make sure to keep control during the chaos. Only then they will be able to direct the masses torwards their final goal.

  6. This 2 minutes video was on Bloomberg yesterday. Well worth seing. It fits perfectly this debate. At this stage, only blind people will not see what is coming.

    1. It could also be one government agency using its budget for the benefit of another government agency. Maybe so the military doesn't run out of bullets? Not having the facts and figures it's just a guess.

  9. I can imagine a dollar devaluation would cause a lot of civil unrest.

  10. Perhaps our government leaders, in their infinite wisdom have finally come to realize that guns are not useful without ammunition. Instead of taking away guns, confiscating millions of rounds of ammunition may be a better solution. Of course, one does not know exactly what caliber(s) of ammo are being stockpiled or if it's even possible to cover all caliber ammunition, however, guns without ammo IS a solution. It will become either to expensive (supply/demand) or just not available. It will probably not be available since the public is probably racing DHS et al to procure as many rounds as they can too.

Civil unrest is beginning, although it will probably be a few years off since most of the public still lives on "hopium", that the economic situation is going to get better or worse, the government will continue to provide "assistance" in order to keep everyone docile. Therefore, it doesn't make much sense for DHS et al to stockpile ammunition for purposes of slaughtering American people if and when they engage in civil unrest.

    Just a thought...
