Fat cattle prices are at an all time high with demand for beef not letting up as strength in the US export markets (thanks in part to the falling US Dollar) in combination with a smaller supply has sent cattle prices rocketing.
My conclusion - if you are a deer or an elk, be careful showing yourself in public!

The calf crop is the lowest in 50 years and the US population is double. Its the most powerful set of circumstances in cattle that is even imaginable. Throw in a dab of high corn prices, of debt that will devalue the dollar for decades, QE as far as the eye can see, a congress spending like a druken sailor, and a rising world population, and cattle is just plain wildly bullish. Period.

ReplyDeleteAnd just a few years ago I thought my lifelong passion for hunting, fishing and veggie gardening were just for recreation with a nice fringe benefit of good eatin'. With fast-rising inflation it looks like these activities just turned into a more serious pursuit of dinner.
